I was born in Surinam and nowadays I am living in Leiden in the Netherlands.

I started painting when I was a student. After graduating in architecture and real estate and project management, I became a real estate project manager. For years I was only focussed on my career and family. 

When my kids were small I painted a lot with them. We started painting when they were approximately 8 months old.  The most beautiful abstract paintings were created the first 4 years, until they were limited by their mind. Their paintings were becoming more figurative and creating things from out of the blue became too difficult for them. 

The years after, I was making 2-3 paintings a year when there was time and space in my head. 

My painting skills have evolved during the years. I am an abstract painter, inspired by nature. The wonderful thing of abstract painting is that the painting is created by ones imagination!

Painting is like a therapy for me and a way to express my emotions. I never know upfront what the end result will look like. Sometimes a painting is repainted a few times, sometimes even over the years, before I am satisfied with the end result. That’s the beauty of painting; it can be painted over and over again.

I use acrylic paint, mixed with different materials and mediums to create texture and contrasts.  Each painting is a search, an inner journey; sometimes a roller coaster.
